Abbeycare Residential Homes
We have close links with Abbeycare here in Weston-super-Mare. Indeed several of our more elderly members join us online every Sunday via our YouTube livestream from the comfort of their community lounge.
AbbeyCare is the trading name of Weston-super-Mare Free Church Housing Association which has two homes in the town. It is a non-profit making Christian organisation, established almost sixty years ago and today is still run by a voluntary Management Committee drawn from local churches, supported by an Operations Manager and also a Care Manager in each home.
The team says "We take great pride in offering the highest standards of accommodation and facilities; indeed the level of care we give to every one of our residents is exactly what we would want our own loved ones to receive, so you will find that our homes are run very much along the lines of a comfortable caring family home, where each resident is a valued member of a small community. Our registration classification is for age 65 years or over".
Your Own Choice
Our residential families maintain their own lifestyles in a way which reflects their own personal choices, enabling them to have as much independence as possible.
Our food is guaranteed to satisfy any appetite. Our Cooks prepare a whole range of home-cooked food based upon traditional cooking using fresh produce.
Menus change daily and always include a vegetarian option.
Special dietary requirements and personal preferences can be catered for, and our homes are always pleased to help celebrate birthdays and other special events with family and friends. Homemade cakes are always available at tea time and tea, coffee and biscuits are available
all day.
Day & Respite Care
We offer opportunities to take part in activities and outings (weather permitting), meet new people and make use of our facilities, including personal care as required.
The team at Abbeycare can provide day care, short term respite care, holiday respite breaks and long-term residential care in a welcoming ‘home from home’ environment.
All care, meals and activities (except specials, ie. theatre etc) are included in the price.
Activities
We have a varied programme of social activities including trips out in our wheelchair accessible mini bus., sing-a-longs, musical movement, talks and demonstrations and various in house activities. Families and friends are always welcome to join us.
We are also priveleged to have support from local churches in our area and regularly attend coffee mornings and entertainment/afternoon tea. Our residents also enjoy trips to local garden centres and shops where they can buy personal items.
